As the world comes together to celebrate Giving Tuesday on November 28th, there’s a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need. This Giving Tuesday, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Rubicon Programs, a non-profit organization dedicated to equipping and empowering individuals to break free from the cycle of poverty. In collaboration with Rubicon Landscape Group, a company committed to social responsibility, the partnership strives to create positive change in the Bay Area community.
Rubicon Programs: Transforming Lives Through Holistic Support
At the heart of Rubicon Programs lies a mission to address the multifaceted challenges faced by individuals living in poverty. Their approach revolves around four key areas: Assets, Income, Wellness, and Connections
Assets: Building Financial Literacy
Rubicon Programs focuses on building financial literacy, offering participants the tools to navigate the complexities of personal finance. Financial Coaches conduct comprehensive assessments, including credit reports, budgeting, and goal-setting, to empower clients with realistic plans for debt repayment and savings.
Income: A Two-Fold Approach
Immediate employment opportunities are provided to meet day-to-day needs, and for those with limited work experience, transitional employment opportunities and on-the-job training are offered. The emphasis extends beyond job placement, with Career Advisors guiding participants toward long-term goals in education, vocational training, or entrepreneurship.
Wellness: Nurturing Mental and Physical Health
Recognizing the importance of health in sustaining employment, Rubicon Programs addresses barriers like mental illness and addiction. Wellness education workshops, access to health insurance, and behavioral health services are provided, ensuring participants have the resources to manage their well-being.
Connections: Fostering Social Networks
Social connections are vital in navigating life’s challenges. Restorative Circles provide a platform for participants to build peer networks and reflect on their impact on the community. Additionally, a leadership development pipeline is set to launch in 2017, allowing participants to contribute to Rubicon’s programming decisions.
Rubicon Landscape Group: A Collaborative Force for Change
Rubicon Landscape Group collaborates with Rubicon Programs to provide training through the Ability One Program, employing individuals with significant disabilities. This collaboration aligns with Rubicon Programs’ commitment to specialized workforce development services, re-entry success, and community-based programs.
Specialized Workforce Development Services: For extremely low-income participants seeking economic self-sufficiency through career planning and development.
Re-entry Success “Center: Focused on formerly incarcerated individuals and their families, reducing recidivism through multiple partnerships.
