Rubicon Awarded Grants to Serve the Community

Rubicon Landscape provides landscaping and comprehensive grounds maintenance to not only private commercial properties but also to city municipalities and large government sites, including Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system locations at Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Livermore.

At Rubicon Landscapes, we have cultivated a culture of pride and stewardship. We feel a sense of ownership of the jobs they service on a regular basis, whether it’s the U.S. Coast Guard properties on the Alameda and Yerba Buena islands, the VA properties or the municipal cities we have longstanding contracts with.

This sense of ownership led to Rubicon Landscape being recognized by the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) when it won the 2018 CLCA East Bay Chapter’s Small Commercial Award.

Based on our consistent track record of results and innovation, Rubicon has won numerous local, state, and federal contracts, enabling us to provide the following services to the community.

Martin Luther King-Marcus Garvey Co-op Apartments, San Francisco

“This is really a transformation from something that was in dire need of repair to something that is beautiful and neighborhood-stabilizing,”
– Steven Fayne, Managing Director, Citi Community Capital

With over 200 units encompassing two city blocks, The King-Garvey Co-op Apartments have been providing affordable housing in the Western Addition for over 40 years. This $45 million extensive property rehabilitation transformed a community and received numerous awards, including:

  • 2012 Best Rehabilitation or Renovation, SF Business Times
  • 2012 Editors’ Choice Award, Multi-Family Executive Magazine “for creative land use and financing, fine architecture, and sustainable construction.”

In addition to installing a new drought-tolerant landscape, Rubicon Landscape converted the old overhead irrigation system to a drip system,  reusing existing components as appropriate.

“The renovation project transformed the property from a blighting influence on the community to a neighborhood asset and center of community”
-Steven Wraight, Director of Design, The Related Company California
